My name is Mike and I am 26 years old. I live oustide of Chicago and work in the city. My first memories of music were listening to Country when I was a young child growing up in Indiana. As I got older my tastes evolved.... a lot. I went from County to Comedy, Comedy to Christian, Christian to 90's Alternative, Pop Punk, Punk, Ska, Hardcore Punk, Post Hardcore, Metal, Rap, Indie, Folk, Hip Hop. Know I am left with a very assorted cd wallet in my car and putting my music on shuffle is always an adventure.
I needed something new though, and I figure the best way to do that is just to dive in. There is just too much music out there nowdays that you need a little guidance though. I asked Reddit. I had done this before on another forum and only made it to album 40 before the project just faded away. My hopes are that through this blog I can discover some new music while letting some other people discover some along the way.
If you have any thoughts on what I am listening to, comment, start a discussion, argue with me a bit. The more active a community the more likely I am to make it to the end of this crazy project. I have a few ideas for what to do with this blog, but I would really like to see if be an active discussion on new types of music that someone may not have given a chance had they not been pushed to try. I feel that there is a good range of genres on this list with something for everyone and something you would have never been caught dead listening to in the past.
Lets put aside our musical biases and dive in. Try something new, maybe you will like it, maybe not. Worst case scenario, you spend an hour listening to something other than that worn out record you have been listening to non stop for the last 2 years.
